What is the difference between PVP and PVPP?

PVP usually acts as a stabilizer, thickener and emulsifier in food. It is often used in products such as baked goods, cheese and beer.

 

PVP is also used in pharmaceuticals as a binder for tablets and capsules. PVPP, on the other hand, is commonly used as a clarifier and stabilizer in beer, wine and juice. Helps enhance and improve the color and formulation of these beverages.

 

PVPP is also used as a filter aid in pharmaceutical production. While both PVP and PVPP are safe for human consumption, they do have some differences in their chemical composition and properties. PVPP is more effective in formulating formulations, while PVP is more effective in stabilizing solutions. Generally speaking, PVP is more commonly used as a food additive than PVPP.
