Description
A study found that smaller particle size PVPP type B tablets have a smoother surface, compared to larger particle size crospovidone, Type A tablets. The study found that tablets with 2% PVPP B powder, 97.4% lactose monohydrate, and small amounts of lubricant and glidant showed no increase in imperfections. The glass transition temperature of PVP was reduced with an increase in moisture content, suggesting that water plasticizes the disintegrant. Despite differences in particle sizes, their abilities for water uptake and distribution were not significantly different.
