Description
HLB and solubility are closely linked, with vinyl acetate contributing over 50% to the copolymer, increasing solubility in hydrophobic solvents and decreasing in water. VP/VA37 is the only water-insoluble copolymer, used as a sticker adjuvant or dispersion in water-and-oil systems. Other copolymers, like VP/VA37, can be used in oil-in-water emulsions and water-based formulations. To improve stability, water-and-oil phases' surface tension can be decreased. Water-soluble VP VA copolymers can lower the interfacial tension between water and Aromatic 150 at concentrations as low as 0.1%.
