Description
Crospovidone, a non ionic disintegrant, is commonly used in tablets at a concentration of 2%-5% w/w. Its disintegration efficiency is not affected by medium pH, making it suitable for cationic medications. However, oxygen-sensitive molecules may be less stable due to remaining peroxides in crospovidone. An N-oxide derivative was discovered as an oxidative breakdown product of raloxifene hydrochloride in a tablet formulation. Research has shown that sorbed moisture affects disintegrant functioning. Differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic vapor sorption analysis were used to assess variations in water uptake, distribution properties, and water polymer interactions in crospovidone samples.
